THE COMING OF THE LORD - ANSWERS
Q4. There are seven Feasts of the Lord. What Feasts will the Lord
fulfill during His second coming?
A) "And the LORD spoke to Moses...'Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.'" (Lev. 23:1-2)
God spoke the Feasts of the Lord to Moses (Lev. 23:1-44). These seven Feasts highlight the redemptive career of the Messiah. They represent appointed times when God will meet with man. Only by understanding the purposes of these holy convocations can one understand the Messiah's first and second coming.
During His first coming, the Messiah fulfilled the first four feasts. The Feast of Passover represents the Messiah shedding His blood on the cross for the sins of the world (1 Pet. 1:19, 1 John 2:1-2, Isa. 53:4-6). The Feast of Unleavened Bread represents the time the Messiah's body did not decay in the grave (Ps. 16:10, Acts 2:31). The Feast of First Fruits represents His physical resurrection on the third day (1 Cor. 15:4, Luke 24:7). The Feast of Weeks represents the day (Pentecost) believers were baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (Acts 1:5; 2:4).
During His second coming Jesus will fulfill the final three fall feasts. During the Feast of Trumpets, the Messiah will deliver the righteous before destroying the wicked (Mat. 24:29-39, Lev. 23:24:-25). The prophets call it the day of the Lord (Joel 2:30-31, 2 Pet 3:10). The trumpet of God will initiate these back-to-back events; deliverance then wrath (Joel 2:1-11, Mat. 24:30-31, 37-39, 1 Thes. 4:15-17). During the Day of Atonement the Messiah will physically return for the salvation of Israel (Lev. 23:27-32, Rom. 11:25-27). The Holy One is coming back to finish the mystery of God (Rev. 10:1-7). During the Feast of Tabernacles the Lord will gather His first fruits before His wrath destroys the wicked (Lev. 23:34-36, Rev. 14:1-4; 16:1-21). The kingdom of Israel will be restored on the first day of Christ's reign over the nations (Acts 1:6, Rev. 20:6) The Lamb will descend with His bride to a new earth inside a new heaven (Rev. 21:1-10). The Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, the Feast of Tabernacles each occurs at different times, for different reasons, each having different results. Like His first coming, the Lord won't fulfill His second coming in one moment. Why does this matter? After studying the warnings not to be deceived you will be amazed on how much it matters. Only by comparing scriptures and receiving the witness of the Holy Spirit can one dispel the myth the second coming of Christ is a single visit.
