A) "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved." (Mat. 24:9-13)
According to Jesus, there will be many believers deceived before the end of the age (harvest) (Mat. 24:9-22). Paul has this falling away coming after the Man of Sin (Antichrist) reveals himself at the beginning of the Great Tribulation. (2 Thes. 2:1-4) As we speak, many have begun denying the Lord by embracing doctrines of demons being sown by deceiving spirits. (1 Tim. 4:1, 2 Pet. 2:1) Only those abiding in Christ can fall away (Heb. 6:4-6) How can an unsaved person fall away from a faith they never had?
"...Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many." (Mat. 24:4-5)
Is our Lord teaching many will come saying they are the Christ? Or is He saying many will come in His name and deceive many? I've been saved for thirty-four years and I've never met someone saying they are the Christ while deceiving many. Yet, there are teachers today saying Jesus is the Christ while at the same time deceiving many believers. In this interview Larry King asks Catholic priest Larry Manning if one does not believe in Jesus will they go to hell? [8. Catholics Don't Believe Jesus Only, T. 0:01-0:42] He confidently replied they won't. This popular theologian affirms the Roman Catholic Church believes Jesus is the source of salvation. He confesses Jesus as God. In the same breath he says a rabbi can obtain salvation without believing in Christ. Manning assures his audience it's not the job of God to cast people into hell. Such rejection of the gospel is a doctrine of demons. This priest is proclaiming Jesus as the Christ while deceiving many believers.
