During
the Great Tribulation, the False Prophet will persecute anyone refusing to
worship the Beast (Rev.
13:14-18). Anyone witnessing Jesus and
the word of God that is caught will be martyred (Rev. 20:4).
Even
though this persecution begins in Jerusalem, it will spread throughout the
world (Rev.
13:3). We know this because the Beast
will be given authority over all the nations (Rev. 13:7). The Great Tribulation will begin in Jerusalem in the middle of the
70th week (Dan
9:27, Mat 24:15, 21-22, Rev. 13:7). During
this time of Satan's wrath, the 4th and 5th seals, the
False Prophet will force the world to receive the mark of the beast (Rev. 6:7-11; 14:9-10). Jesus wants every saint to be ready to
overcome when the Abomination of Desolation invades Jerusalem with his armies (Luke 21:20, Mat. 24:15). This is why ministers rejecting the warnings
to repent and watch are deceiving their listeners (Mat. 24:33). Anyone overcome by the Beast and his False
Prophet will suffer eternal torment (Rev. 3:5; 13:14-18; 14:9-11).
